August Resolutions

This is going to be a thing. I will make this a thing.

1. 4+ workouts each week on BeachBody on Demand, or a total of 16 over the month. I'll count yoga since I'm still nursing an injury.

2. Get up to date on laundry. Laundry is the FlyLady August habit, and while I can't follow along with her routine of putting laundry in the washer in the morning, changing it while you are working around the house, and folding it before lunch, I can definitely do a better job of staying on top of my laundry.

3. Plan outfits (with jewelry) for B2S. I saw this on a WW sista's instagram this week and LOVE THE IDEA. Our classes literally start 2 weeks from today, and I'm already riding the struggle bus into August. I want to take some time (maybe even tonight) to plan some outfits I can "grab and go" from my closet. I might even take pictures and put them in Evernote so I can  easily find something suitable.

4. Read more. I got deep in the podcast hole this month, listening to old episodes of some of my favorites like Stuff You Should Know and Best of Both Worlds, but I really need to listen to audiobooks and read books instead of just spending time half-listening to a podcast. When I had my discounted Kindle Unlimited subscription, I got way ahead on my reading for the year. At this point, I'm actually only one book "behind schedule" which should be fairly easy to make up.

July Resolution Check-in

1. Start working out.

Success! I wanted to log 10 workouts over the month and after signing up for BeachBody on demand I completed 11! Not too bad after being gone for a while and dealing with a few annoying injuries.

2. Eat more vegetables.

Well this one was a half success. I did try to eat more veggies, but was still not being successful. Instead I got a tub of Metamucil and signed up for WeightWatchers. This week I've eaten 3-4 servings of veggies per day. But it's August now, can that still count?

3. Clean the bathroom.

Y'all. I REALLY DID THIS. I like, owned this resolution. My toilet and shower look BETTER THAN EVER. I didn't spend money on a new shower curtain, I just gave mine a good bleach bath and it looks good as new. Now I just need to keep clothes off the floor and we'll be good to go.

4. Spend less money.

I'm not getting into the habit of posting my monthly expenditures and savings (yet), but I promise this was a success. I paid an extra car payment this month and put extra into savings! Holla!

5. Figure out why your boss keeps canceling your meetings.

Haven't had one cancelled since. Woop woop. Still not sure why, so fail/success.

6. Be more punctual.

This has gotten much better. Instead of rolling up at 8:30 on the regular I am now usually sitting at my desk by 8:05. Definitely by 8:20. It's a work in progress.

My Goals for July

I know. It's almost mid-July... but I was gone on the first!

1. Start working out. Let's say... 10 workouts over the rest of the month?
2. Eat more vegetables. Your digestive system will thank you.
3. Clean the bathroom because it's gross and every time Flylady gets to it you have an excuse but like SERIOUSLY JUST CLEAN THE BATHROOM. Maybe even replace the shower curtain?
4. Spend less money. I know, I just said I wanted to replace the shower curtain but the curtain is seriously nasty.
5.  Figure out why your boss keeps canceling your meetings.
6. Be more punctual (this could be the reason for #5).

Sometimes You Go On A Trip...

And basically help people pack...

and buy books.

That's what I did last week.

My only vacation of the year was so much fun.

Friday Favorites

The beginning of a new roundup on Fridays... these are my favorite things this Friday :)

1. Post it lined 4x6 pads. Without these, literally nothing would get done while I'm at work (or at home for that matter, let's be honest). They are also very sticky and hold for a long time... BUT are also able to be repositioned! What could be better??

Post-it® Notes, 4

2. Freshly washed hair. I washed my hair this morning after it had been at least two days too long since my last hair washing. I hate blow drying my hair (such a waste of time) but suffered through today so I could look at least semi-presentable in front of others. The joke's on me though, because when I got to work (20 minutes after 8) I was the only one here.

3. Lo and Sons OG/OMG Bag. Okay, I don't have this. But I've wanted it for years and it's on sale 20% off AND I had a bonus posted to my account today so... I deserve this right? I also really liked Trisha at Three Thousand Miles' review of the OG, and this OMG review at Amble & Pearl.

4. The EyeVac Touchless Automatic Vacuum. Guys. How did I ever sweep the normal way? I started sweeping 2x a week a few months ago (vinyl floors + pet who sheds + a human who sheds = necessary sweeping), and this makes it SO MUCH EASIER. I don't know how I did it before. And while I (obviously) was interested in a robot vacuum, that interest seriously waned after hearing horror stories of it smearing dog poop everywhere. This vacuum won't do that, and I don't have to bend over! Note: I did purchase this while it was a Today's Special Value on QVC and the price was even cheaper, but QVC still has the best price on this bad boy.

The least favorite thing this week? Laundry. I leave for a week-long trip early Sunday morning, and I've been trying to do all of my laundry so that 1. I actually have enough clothes to wear while I'm gone, and 2. when I return I don't have to immediately do tons of laundry.

Hope you all have a great weekend as well :)

These Days

In some ways I feel like there's no such thing as a typical day.

Other times I think  WHY IS EVERYTHING THE SAME ALL THE TIME?

Side note: At one point I thought I had Aspergers. I realize now I very much do not.

I like some change. Variety is the spice of life, or whatever. But it's always cool to look back at posts like this and see what you were doing when.

So here's today:

It's summer, which means not much is going on at work. I did get a lot accomplished, in that I sent out invitations to a big event I'm hosting this fall in Tampa, corresponded with students, picked up my P-Card (which was not able to be activated). However, some days I'm the only one in the building. That's a lot less fun.

7:15 - wake up, realizing no alarms went off, decide I can stay in bed another 15 minutes if I don't have to wash and blow dry my hair

7:30 - put dry shampoo in my hair before tucking it into a shower cap, take a quick shower and get ready for work

8:00 - leave for work, BF still sleeping at home because he "works from home" on wednesdays and thursdays. I don't really know what he does.

8:14 - arrive at work, realize I forgot my keyboard/mouse USB plug at home (the trackpad was glitching yesterday while I worked at home, so I figured taking it out wouldn't make the situation worse)

8:30 - 10:30 - Read emails, read websites, listen to audiobooks, decide what I should do next for my to-do list. Urgent emails come from boss, I crunch numbers and give him data he's looking for. Also create a shopping list for Publix. Sure, I'm leaving on vacation next week... but I get paid tomorrow and would like to take advantage of some killa bogos for the 4th.

10:45 - Walk across campus to get P-Card. It's uphill, so... cardio? Also I am a good 2 weeks late picking this bad boy up.

11:20 - Triumphantly walk downhill with P-Card after apologizing to the accounting lady profusely for missing her email.

12:00 - Leave to go home for lunch

12:15 - Get home, BF made paninis and salad. Sit on couch eating lunch, talking about news, cuddling with dog

12:50 - Fix a Tervis full of ice and head back to work.

1:05 - Back at work, sit and read emails, articles, listen to audiobook (end up forgetting what I listened to, so I go back and re-listen later)

2:00 - Send invitations to big event, respond to employer emails about said event, feel productive

3:30 - Tired, so I sit at my desk, read blogs, look at to-do list, debate ordering an Erin Condren planner.

Internal debate - I got a passion planner for like $10 a few months ago but for summer I just don't have that much going on, which in turn is causing me to lack motivation to use the planner. It's so scheduled out and I don't have a lot to schedule right now! It might be more useful during the school year (particularly for those times when I feel like I have more work than minutes sitting at my desk), but I still don't know that.

3:55 - Research "day in the life of an SLP", because I'm intrigued after talking to my cousin about her job when we met up over the weekend.

4:05 - Dad calls to update me on my uncle's test results. He has a swollen lymph node and we don't know much beyond that

4:15 - Phone call w/ an employer for 15 minutes about some intern positions he's trying to fill. Email 4 students the opporutnity to see if they're interested. Offer to review resumes and cover letters as needed.

4:45 - Hop on LinkedIn to read a few work articles, seeing what companies are coming to/leaving the area, who is hiring new workers, etc. Finish replying to employers (I don't mind making a student wait - particularly for a non-urgent response - but I don't like to leave employers waiting to hear back from me)

5:05 - Head home

5:20 - Arrive home, help Dan cook fried rice

6:00 - Start watching Sharknado 4, but realize it's the night of the Republican gubernatorial debate.  Try to watch but it's nowhere on TV due to a shooting.

6:30 - Instead decide to apply window solar shade things ordered from Amazon (these). Help for a bit before realizing I'm too short to do much on these windows and leave Dan to complete the project.

7:30 - Laundry, watched videos, messed around online

8:30 - Took a bath

9:30 - In bed, watching TV before bed

November...

was more than a doozy. I have come close to straight up quitting my job on more than one occasion. Was sick twice. The first time I tho...
